Eye catching Table Tennis display in London
Table Tennis shows once again that it truly is a sport for anytime, anywhere and with anyone.
Paul Drinkhall and Darius Knight help out in the Sport England Everyday Sport Campaign that commandeered the London Eye on Tuesday morning. The Everyday Sport Campaign - which is backed by politicians, sports stars, and organisations across the country - encourages people to build physical activity and sport into their everyday lives. The campaign is set to get England moving in the battle against obesity and in the countdown to London 2012. Roger Draper, Chief Executive of Sport England, said: “We have a big task to increase the number of people who are physically active and campaigns of this nature are an absolute priority for Sport England in helping us to increase participation in sport and physical activity.”
Sebastian Coe, Chairman of London 2012, said: “Winning the right to host the 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games in London is the most fantastic opportunity that any generation in this county has ever been granted. It will kick-start a huge amount of interest and opportunities for everyone, particularly young people, to take up sport and physical activity. A new generation of young athletes will be inspired to become the champions of tomorrow. We want this country to be one of the most enthusiastic and active in the world about sport when we host the London Games in 2012. A campaign like Everyday Sport will be a major catalyst for making this happen."

Steve Tilson Challenges Rio Ferdinand in a big Table Tennis match.

Rio Ferdinand has been challenged to put his money where his mouth is by Southend boss Steve Tilson. Tilson may not have had Ferdinand's talent at football, but the Shrimpers boss has clearly been riled by Ferdinand's recent radio assertion that he is the meanest table tennis player in all of football. And as a former England international at table tennis, Tilson believes that he has Ferdinand's number and is so confident that he will to bet a week's wages on the outcome (admittedly a somewhat less astronomical amount of money in his case).
"Bring it on,” Tilson told Southend's official site. “I'd be more than willing to take on Rio in a table tennis match if we could set something up. "How about we make things a little more interesting with a wager as well - a week of Rio's salary against a week of mine?"
Who would your money be on in this battle of the table tennis titans? Have your say.
TIMO BOLL- Men's World Cup Winner,
The final of the Liebherr Men's World Cup in Liège was the fourth time that Timo BOLL had played WANG Hao in international competition and honours were even. Both of the first two meetings had gone the way of WANG Hao, whilst the latter two had been won by Timo BOLL. The most recent had been the Men's Singles semi-final at the Volkswagen Open Japan when the German had prevailed in a close seven games encounter; in Liège we saw a repeat. Timo BOLL (GER) beat WANG Hao (CHN) 11-3, 4-11, 11-8, 3-11, 11-13, 11-8, 11-5.
